Aim:
Problem situation: The way of spreading HIV infection throughout our Tver region does not differ from all Russia one. The quantity results of Regional AIDS struggle center show more than 5000 cases of AIDS infection in Tver and Tver region, having been officially registered on January, 1. One of the ways to prevent this further HIV spreading is the way of informing on issue of HIV and the problems concerned. Goal: to study key informational needs of the group research representatives in Tver region penal system. Group: incarcerated individuals living with HIV in Tver region's penal system. Object: the level of knowledge of the group research representatives on issue of HIV/AIDS; informational needs on issue of HIV/AIDS; the components of communication process (the sources, the ways of getting information, its efficacy) from the independent point of view; and attitude towards the problem.
 
Method / Issue:
The quantity research of key informational needs of group research representatives on issue of HIV/AIDS/ is the sociological research carried out by means of the questionnaire. Volume of selection: 297 of men. Male - 79.5%, Female - 20.5%.
 
Results / Comments:
The respondents, living with HIV infection had not been well informed on the problem of HIV before falling ill. Almost a half of them had been generally informed on the problem before having HIV. 1/5th of the respondents had not even have any information about it until the diagnosis was set Among the main informational sources on issue of HIV/AIDS and sexual way diseases Mass media is known to be the principal (newspapers, magazines, radio and TV set programmers). Almost 1/3th of the respondents gets news from their friends and pales. The great part of HIV infected inmates say they are treated as well as other incarcerated people. About 1/3th of respondents thinks that are treated worse than other inmates. It was interesting to know the respondents thoughts about their own activity on the problem. Most of them are passive and they prefer ''nothing to do'' 43.1%. And only 1/4th of them is ready to take part in providing quality care and support to people affected by HIV. The outcomes from our research show the respondents great interest in increasing of the quality and quantity informational sources connected with personal health physical and spiritual as well. They are in need of constant sources of information. More than a half of the respondents (65.3%) are very interested in combating the spread of infectious diseases. 23.3% of them are little interested in the problem. 6.1% are not interested at all in the problem. It was rather interesting to know that most of respondents 50.2% consider Video (programmers, documentaries )to be the most efficient in getting information on issue of HIV. 32% of respondents were for illustrated magazines and 22.7% - for special lecture material.
 
Discussion:
According to research outcomes one can surely draw a conclusion of admitting quality information materials to be very necessary in Tver region penal systems.
