Aim:
AIDS epidemic has caused more than twenty-five millions of deaths around the world. In Spain, last data indicate that are 73.013 the accumulated cases since the beginnings in 1981. Specifically, HIV infection by heterosexual transmission is the second category between Spanish populations in which young people mean an important group. By this via of transmission, adolescent and young women are the population who is most affected in front of men (53,9% of the total of infection which occur in women are by this via). This topic is a situation that has to be tackle in a priority way. Obviously, HIV/AIDS preventive campaigns have an important role in the fight against new HIV infections between women. In spite of this, more research around the efficacy of the preventive advertising and gender factors which take part in the influences process is necessary. So, this work objective is to know the aspects related to gender like involved factors in HIV/AIDS epidemic and impact of preventive campaigns in adolescents.

Method / Issue:
This work design is cuasi-experimental study according with Montero and Len (2005). The sample is composed by 913 adolescents (46% males and 54% females). The age mean is 15,94 and the SD is 1,32. It was registered the female and male sex of the participants like independent variable. Futhermore, it were used the following questionnaires to assess aspects related to gender which were considered important to the research: - Bem Sex Role Inventory, BSRI (Bem 1974, 1983; Garca-Mina, 1997, 2004). - Sexual Role Ideology Scale, SRI, reduced version (Moya et al., 1991; Moya et al., 2006). A selection of the AIDS prevention campaigns were used in the study to know the influence of the independent variables in the impact reached by the advertising.

Results / Comments:
The results conclude that both male/female sex and other aspects relative to gender (ideology and identity) are important variables in the reached impact of the advertising in adolescents, according with the hypothesis. Specifically, advertising has more impact in women than men and adolescents with less traditional ideology of gender have higher punctuations in impact of the campaigns.

Discussion:
Study results are an opportunity to know the factors related to gender that can have an influence and a mediator role in the efficacy of one of the most global interventions in the fight against epidemic and its prevention: mass media.
