Aim:
Recent data on the renewed outbreak of HIV among MSM prompt us to rethink the sexual health promotion strategies designed for this group. This poster presents an original and innovative sexual health promotion program for MSM, developed according to the Mapping Intervention approach.

Method / Issue:
The Phnix project is a program consisting of 7 workshops in restricted groups whose goal is to lead participants to implement strategies that will reduce the risk of HIV infection, without compromising their sexual satisfaction. They are guided through four steps: 1) recognize their zones of loss of control in sexuality and in the management of risk of infection; 2) plan the adoption of risk reduction strategies; 3) implement risk reduction strategies; and 4) re-evaluate their zones of loss of control and consolidate their risk-management skills. Through activities that are spread out over a 10-week period, the participants are lead to develop and reinforce two types of skills: cognitive and behavioral skills for the evaluation and management of the risks of infection; and erotic skills regarding the diversification of their sexual scenarios and effective sexual stimuli (techniques on masturbation and anal massage), as well as integrating condoms in these scenarios. Original tools have been developed to attain these objectives and will be presented (5 risk profile-types, chain-type events leading to risk-taking, audiovisual documents, strategies for the management of their loss of control zones, etc.).

Results / Comments:
Preliminary data of the validation of the Phnix project among 19 MSM aged between 20 and 58 years old, who are seronegative or have of unknown HIV serological status and who have had unprotected anal intercourse in the past will be presented.

Discussion:
Lessons will be drawn from the experience regarding: 1) the planning of a preventive intervention; 2) its implementation (training of the speakers, recruitment of participants, networking with the practical communities); and 3) the importance of the validation phase of the intervention among the clientele.
