Aim:
We Indian Community welfare Organization a non profit, non governmental organization working for HIV/AIDS prevention for the past 19 years among the High risk community and provide care & support for the People living with HIV/ AIDS.

Method / Issue:
HIV is not merely a health problem, it has already developed into a disaster, and it has become a security crisis with a social impact as devastating as war. The epidemic is now threatening us more than ever, it has not been curbed, and on the contrary, more will be infected this year than last. Much is still not known about the epidemic and much is yet to be learnt but enough is known to act and we must act immediately to offer treatment and to provide care. No country is an island unto itself, the whole world is affected and action is needed to stop the HIV spread.

Results / Comments:
As a result, there are regular write-ups about HIV/AIDS and its related issues by most of the National, State and local area wise leading magazines/newspapers. TamilNadu stands first in the awareness of HIV/AIDS in India. Now NGOs and the community positively trust the media in advocating the issues related to HIV/AIDS, to sustain the knowledge and to update the community on HIV/AIDS in Tamil Nadu.

Discussion:
In order to make the media feel responsible, ICWO has started sharing details about the projects to different kinds of media from March 2005. Regular updates via mails are maintained. Regular face-to-face meet were / are organized between the media personnel and the community to understand the issues of the most vulnerable community like the sex workers, homosexual men and children of sex workers.
