Aim:

Effective school based sexuality education remains a grey area in the school curriculum of many African countries despite convincing evidence showing that schools present good settings for delivering sex education. John Krugu describes an intervention that reduced STIs and unintended teenage pregnancies among youth in Ghana. Youth peer-educators provided comprehensive sexuality education to young people, and worked with health care providers to ensure access to youth friendly SRH services. The results show skill-based and lengthier intervention offering the opportunity for repeated exposure may be necessary to sustain program effects over time.
