Aim:
The project of the community actors capacities building in the fight against the AIDS with the town halls is an initiative of NGO "Pedagogues Unis pour la Promotion de la Sant par lEcole". Planed on 2 years, it targeted the communities of women and girls most vulnerable to the HIV in the poorest quarter, teach them the technics of female leadership, the way to improve the community participation and lead them in the way to educate others women (their peers) and to sensitize them.
 
Method / Issue:
Place : District of Koumassi (424 677 inhabitants) - 06 shantytowns of 195 641 inhabitants - seroprevalence rate = 9,3%. Third more populated district of Abidjan - Ivory Coast. Targets: women in age to procreate, illiterates, without employment and fixed income. Objectives: Reduce the rate of HIV in the district through the sensitizing and the leaders women capacities building in female leadership and participation of community from 2004 to 2006. Specifically, (1) to train 36 women in female leadership and Community participation technics, (2) to sensitize 1 500 women in age to procreate, (3) to take 3 000 women in age to procreate to be made detect and (04) to take care of positive detected women by ARV. Strategies: Sensitizing, Reinforcement of the capacities and advocacy.
 
Results / Comments:
Results: At the end of 2006, with the support of the Alliance des Maires de Cte dIvoire, the project allowed: 1. to train 36 women in female leaderships and technics of community participation, 2. to sensitize 4 500 women in age to procreate, 3. to detect 6 343 women with 456 HIV positive, 4. to take care of 250 HIV positive women with ARV 5. To install 06 District Information Centers
