Aim:
Online prevention interventions have been increasingly used since the late 90's. Now, almost 10 years further, we should ask ourselves several critical questions: have we realized the principal potential of the internet for HIV prevention (which stands loose from technological advancements), and have we properly evaluated the true impact of internet interventions? On the agenda is the need to further use the potential of the internet as a prevention tool not only at the individual level but also at the extra-individual level, such as influencing one's direct life environment. Further, we need to realize the severe limitations of randomized controlled trials for evaluating internet intervetnion, and we need to give back the ball to content and deepening of tailoring as opposed to design, gadgets and navigation wonders.
