Examples of profiles according the iCEATvih assessment will also be presented to illustrate the tool usefulness.

  Method / Issue:
The CEAT-VIH was translated to an online version in order to offer a short, reliable, meaningful and user-friendly option for diagnosis of the extent of antiretroviral treatment adherence. Lessons from online behavior research was applied in order to build the online version (iCEATvih).

The iCEATvih (www.ceat-vih.info) is a free assessment tool, scientifically validated (Remor E. The Patient 2013 6 (2), 61-73), available online and compatible with mobile devices, to assess adherence to treatment in HIV+ people taking antiretroviral medication. The iCEATvih takes only a few minutes and needs only 5 steps for a complete assessment. At the end of the questionnaire yields a profile that shown the overall level of adherence to treatment, and information on five major indicators that explain individual differences in adherence behavior: Compliance, Antecedents of non-adherence behaviors, Doctor-patient Communications, Personal beliefs, expectancies about the treatment, and Treatment satisfaction. The iCEATvih is available in 4 language versions (i.e., English, Spanish, Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese), and can be used directed by patients for self-monitoring, and/or by health care professionals for follow up or as an intervention outcome.

  Discussion:
The iCEATvih is a useful assessment tool, psychometric robust, that is helpful for the researchers studying adherence to antiretroviral treatment, or clinicians and health-related professionals interested in the patient?s adherence surveillance or evaluate their interventions addressing adherence improvement.
