Aim:

South Africa has led the way with intervention and research on social protection as a response to HIV/AIDS. This outlines some of the key evidence around the extent to which structural drivers may influence HIV-risk behaviours amongst adolescents in South Africa. It then examines the evidence and the gaps in evidence on social protection as a response: Can social protection reduce HIV-risks? Does it improve adherence to ART? And what do we still need to implement and learn?
