Aim:

The presentation will show the role that harm reduction services could play for HIV prevention,testing, treatment initiation and adherence among people who inject drugs, as well as policy barriers and financial constrains which limit further expansion and sustainability of such programs. Results of the assessment of harm reduction service quality and financial gaps analysis conducted by Eurasian Harm Reduction Network (EHRN) and its country partners in 6 countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia will be presented. Recommendations aimed to improve sustainability of harm reduction programs in the region will be presented, including social contracting for needle and syringe programs and integration of methadone programs into primary healthcare system will be presented.
